Researchers, PMs, Designers, Developers, etc) and answered questions about my resume and interests for about five minutes. I sat at a table with eight employees (ex. The PicCollage office is fun, creative, and filled with free snacks & drinks! After an office tour and agenda overview, we dived right in. Exhausting but fulfilling, the day had a series of exercises aimed at testing my technical skills and seeing how I interact with the team. My on-site took place at PicCollage’s Taipei Headquarters from 11am to 5pm with another UR Intern candidate. I just pulled up PicCollage on my phone and asked my mom to try it out, asking questions throughout to practice interview flow. Then, I practiced by giving mock user interviews. After collecting the questions, I tailored them to PicCollage and translated them to Chinese so I’d be ready to conduct interviews in either language. What helped me here was compiling a user interview question bank in advance using online resources like this one. I had a second virtual call with the User Research Lead and a recruiter to discuss the logic behind my quiz answers and complete a mock user interview in Chinese to validate a new PicCollage feature I had proposed. When I interviewed, The Social Dilemma was trending, so I asked about data privacy at PicCollage. One intern made a lasting impression on a PicCollage recruiter by asking about the company’s response to the Black Lives Matter movement. If there is something you are genuinely curious about, don’t be afraid to ask. They wanted to know who I was as a whole person with questions like: “What’s something you’re learning right now?”. Overall, it felt less like an interview and more like a casual chat examining cultural fit. I was also asked to brainstorm three questions I’d ask a user of my favorite product/service. We discussed the roles I applied for, previous experiences, hobbies, etc. How would you approach if you’re asked to find out 10 user problems of your favorite product/service?ħ days after submitting my application, I scheduled a call with the UR Manager who later became my supervisor. What’s your favorite product or service, why?.What was the biggest challenge you have experienced in your previous research, and why? Still, you never know and the truth is that anything could happen. My interview timeline for an idea of turnaround time. It seems clear that the application that has the most zeros in this close vote is nothing more and nothing less than BeReal, the famous social network that seeks that all users be themselves, without filters or editions.
